Campers

Campers are either infected with HIV or have an AIDS diagnosis, they may have an infected sibling, parent or primary caregiver. Camper may also qualify if they have lost a sibling, parent or primary caregiver from this disease. Camp Kindle does not break up the family unit. We offer this camp at no expense to the camper or their family, this includes the cost of travel and/or other necessities. We will serve up to 100 young people per full week session. All potential participants must have an application completed. Camp Kindle accepts applications year round.

Campers ages 6-12: Will participate in a traditional camping program with the hopes they can "Just Be Kids". They will also participate in the educational component of camp, focusing on wellness, character education workshops, building self worth, team work, etc.

Campers ages 13-15: Will participate in the Leaders In Training Program (L.I.T) where they focus on developing their leadership and team building skills, character education workshops, health education, along with participating in the traditional camping program.

Junior Counselors and Counselors In Training: Participate in our Junior Counselor (JC) or Counselors In Training Program (CIT) you must be 16, 17 and 18 years of age by the first day of camp. These young people should have past leadership training and possess a desire to be a counselor one day. All potential JC's or CIT's must obtain at least 3 letters of recommendation along with their completed application. Camp Kindle's JC's and CIT's do not have to be directly impacted by HIV/AIDS to participate in this program. During the week of camp, these individuals will work one-on-one with a cabin and two co-counselors along with the CIT Directors. By the end of the week, the JC's and CIT's will have learned many of the necessary skills to one day become an effective counselor.
