KINDLE YOUTH RETREAT
Project Kindle offers a young person’s life skills and leadership retreat know as the Kindle Youth Retreat. The program specifically targets young people who have previously attended Camp Kindle and have "phased out" of our camper program. We saw a desire for former campers to stay connected to Camp Kindle community. We wanted to offer them this opportunity, while learning skills to better their chances of a successful future.
The goal of our retreat is to service young people ages 16-21, who are infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS, by offering them workshop, presentations and discussions which will give them tools to more easily transition into adulthood. Our vision is to offer the young people we serve a chance to build a stronger future, one in which they believe in themselves, and where they have the leadership and character to make a difference in their own lives and in the lives of others.
The retreat is held in the summer on a college campus and is cost free to each participant.
CAMP KINDLE
Junior Counselors and Counselors In Training: Participate in our Junior Counselor (JC) or Counselors In Training Program (CIT) you must be 16, 17 and 18 years of age by the first day of camp. These young people should have past leadership training and possess a desire to be a counselor one day. All potential JC's or CIT's must obtain at least 3 letters of recommendation along with their completed application. Camp Kindle's JC's and CIT's do not have to be directly impacted by HIV/AIDS to participate in this program. During the week of camp, these individuals will work one-on-one with a cabin and two co-counselors along with the CIT Directors. By the end of the week, the JC's and CIT's will have learned many of the necessary skills to one day become an effective counselor. Please use the New Volunteer Application for this program.
